My Very Own "About" List

  1. I wake up on the 6’s and I have since I was in middle school. If I have to wake up at quarter past the hour, I set the alarm for 7:16…I don’t know why I do this and I don’t know where it came from, but I am too superstitious to give it up.
  2. My hair has been almost every color imaginable from platinum blond to red to even pink! It has also been almost every length from long-ass long to short as a boy.
  3. At one time I had 10 body piercings. Now I only have 6. And most of those 6 are in my ears.
  4. My favorite fruit is the tomato, though I really think of those more as a vegetable so I'll say that I also really like bananas. I went through a phase where I ate an entire bunch everyday.
  5. I arrange the hanging clothes in my closet by color and I have two separate drawers for my socks: white and everything else.
  6. I haven’t eaten at McDonalds since the year 2001.
  7. I gave up red meat when I was 13. I haven’t had one bite since. I swear I will never eat it again.
  8. I won’t spend a lot of money on jeans, shoes or purses. But I will on sunglasses.
  9. The National Anthem gives me goose bumps.
  10. Sometimes when arriving home after a car trip or a long day of being gone, I say "home again home again ziggity zah." I got this from my Dad and I don't think it's weird, but the people I'm with always do.
  11. When it's very very hot outside I say "it's blazin' hip hop and R&B jams."
  12. I have been to every state on the east coast except Maine.
  13. I went bungee jumping in Australia.
  14. I have been to 3 of the 7 continents. Three days from now that will change to 4/7. Except I don't really count Antarctica as a continent because I fear I'll never get there.
  15. I know every state capital. And also every state. In alphabetical order.
  16. I cannot add or subtract fractions.
  17. I don’t know what any of the little lines on a ruler mean except for the 1/2 and 1/4 marks.
  18. I like corn on the cob, but not baby corn.
  19. I never drink “real” soda. Ever. It must be diet.
  20. I wanted to be a journalist until I got to college (one that I picked based on their journalism program) and took my first intro class. It was then that I realized I didn't like that short, concise style of writing.
  21. I believe in the Valentine's Day Pig, whom nobody on earth but my brother's and I know about. On V-Day morning "he" leaves us notes with little clues that lead us from place-to-place throughout the house eventually leading us to our heart-shaped box of candy. It took me till I was like 10 to figure out that the notes were always written in my dad's handwriting...and that pigs, obviously could not write notes. I still get candy from the v-day pig, but without the notes and the big hunt.
  22. Till I was 20, I told people my middle name was Elizabeth. It’s not.
  23. My dream job is to work for Target’s creative department.
  24. I don’t know how to French braid.
  25. I love the smell of inflatable plastic beach toys, new shower curtains, curve cologne, sharpies, grape anything and the beach.
  26. I know the Cyrillic alphabet and can speak only a few words and phrases of Russian, even though I studied it for 4 years in high school. I can ask you how to get to the market or the movies...
  27. I don’t recycle and I take out the trash on non-trash days.
  28. I don’t like scary movies. I haven't liked them since I saw Silence of the Lambs and couldn't sleep for a week afterwards.
  29. I never used to eat the ends of bananas or French fries until about a six months ago.
  30. I despise mustard.
  31. I’ve never been to Staten Island.
  32. My biggest fear is big black bears.
  33. I love the words inter-populate, serendipitous and ubiquitous.
  34. I know all the words to ice ice baby.
  35. I love ripping off the cardboard from Kleenex boxes and the back of new toothbrushes.
  36. I applied to 5 undergraduate schools and got into 5. I applied to 5 graduate programs and only got into one. I went.
  37. I like dark chocolate better than milk.
  38. My lucky number is 15, but I couldn’t tell you why or how that came to be. Although, I know it happened in second grade somehow.
  39. I very very rarely unpack the same day that I return home from a trip. If I do, it's only because I need that bag or suitcase for something the next day.
  40. I cry when I get lost while driving.
  41. I rewrite a list on a new sheet of paper if I make a mistake instead of just crossing it out.
  42. I write the date and place on the inside cover of every book read.
  43. I start a lot of books and never finish them; I wish I was that kind of person who had to finish every book they started.
  44. I don’t know the difference between affect and effect even though I’ve looked it up a hundred times and even though someone who works for the AP explained it to me just a few weeks ago.
  45. I hate most sour things, including sour patch kids.
  46. I have an excellent sense of smell.
  47. Red over white, but I’ll drink either.
  48. I believe in love at first sight.
  49. I spent New Year's Eve 2000 on the couch of my parent's house with ice packs on my face after getting my wisdom teeth taken out. It took me 15 days to recover from that surgery, and I have since taken a personal vendetta against NYE. I also do not like Halloween. Both of these holidays have too much hype surrounding them and never end up being fun.
  50. I name my computers and my plants. When I water them, I talk to them to encourage them to grow. When my computer is behaving slow or acting funny, I talk to it to it in a very soothing voice.

I dream in fractions. I love them. They are the perfect numbers. I catch myself coming up with fractions and their percentage counter parts for nearly everything. Also, I used to hate Halloween, now I love it.
